DIY CRISPR Gene Editing Reaches Brooklyn

Amy Dockser Marcus, The Wall Street Journal, 26 Feb 2017

For only $400 Genspace, the Brooklyn, N.Y. community lab, will teach you the basics of CRISPR gene editing with hands on experiments using brewer’s yeast.  The classes open up CRISPR gene editing to a new generation of biohackers including high school students, such as 17-year-old Kian Sadeghi.  While many are excited about the possibilities that DIY labs such as Genspace provide to the public, others question whether the experiments will be done in and ethical and appropriately safe way.
